Planet Earth is on the brink of invasion after humanity ruined the peace and quiet of the universe with the broadcast of metal music on the Voyager probe's Golden Record. Aliens picked up the signal and couldn't stop headbanging, and now they're dying off because of it, so they want revenge! The only thing standing between these music-hating creeps and total planetary domination is...a metal band?
Landing over the sleepy Tokyo suburb of Kichijoji, the invaders abduct an unassuming high school student and merge his soul with that of Rinko, the drummer in her high school's outrageous all-girl metal club. Now sharing Rinko's body, this unlikely duo will have to team up to take down the aliens with the only weapon they have: metal.
Joining this pair are Rinko's bandmates in K.M.G. (Kichijoji Metal Girls): Kia, super sci-fi nerd and synthesizer player; Mani, resident rich girl and bassist; Shiimi, delinquent and lead guitarist; and Erii, gentle giant and backup guitarist. Together, they'll perfect their music to thwart the aliens and protect the earth, all while navigating the rigors of regular school life.
K.M.G.'s dynamite drummer. Rinko is currently sharing her body with the male protagonist after being zapped with alien technology. Tasked as one of the representatives of Earth, she must ensure that she teaches the protagonist how to be an awesome drummer so that they can save the world AND be returned to normal. Oh boy.
K.M.G.'s synthesizer specialist. The band's resident sci-fi expert, Kia much prefers staying at home where she can browse the net and play games online. She was absolutely convinced in the veracity of alien life, so this whole situation must be pretty exciting for her.
K.M.G.'s boffo bassist. Heiress to the Kurobarain Conglomerate, Mani belies her privileged upbringing with a generally level—headed and encouraging personality. She also happens to be really into horror movies-especially ones about zombies.
K.M.G.'s rockin' rhythm guitarist. Quiet. Tall and slim, Erii usually prefers to take her glasses off during performances so she can't see the audience while she plays.
K.M.G.'s lickin' lead guitarist. Although a bit of a delinquent with questionable taste in fashion, Shiimi is dedicated both to the band and to taking care of her younger brother. She's eager to keep the earth safe from any alien forces foolish enough to pick a fight!
